Fire Destroys Historic Barre Town Home
Welcome to the Barre Town Fire Department
The Barre Town Fire Department is a call paid "volunteer" organization that directly serves a population of 7,600 residents in a sprawling 19,328-acre rural community. Barre Town is primarily a bedroom community mainly comprised of single and multi-family dwellings, along with some commercial areas and has a fairly significant industrial presence. In addition, the Barre Town Fire Department provides first response coverage to the Town of Orange and heavy rescue response to several others. The Barre Town Fire Department is a founding member of the Capital Fire Mutual Aid System and as such provides mutual aid response to several other neighboring communities.
Stations are located in East Barre and South Barre, which are two of several villages that make up Barre Town.
The Barre Town Fire Department includes at each station - two engines, and two water tankers. South Barre Station also has a multi-purpose brush fire suppression rescue vehicle, a.k.a. "the Hummer". East Barre Station also has a four-wheel drive brush vehicle and runs a heavy rescue truck.
